We do not collect any personal information from you through the SHAPE of Impact dashboard using website analytics, cookies, or other means.
The data displayed in the dashboard were compiled from publicly-available sources, with the exception of some nested keys of the scientometric data for which we have obtained a license for you to use. The data do not contain personally identifiable information other than author names which are linked to an ICS, are published in the scientific record, and are ultimately contributed to REF2021 by HEIs as part of the ICS submission process.
This panel shows the number of impact case studies submitted to each Main Panel and Unit of Assessment in the Research Excellence Framework (see further definitions below). The drop-down menu can be used to filter results to include only impact case studies submitted to Main Panels C or D. Doughnut charts can be clicked to filter by individual Units of Assessment. Selections can be reset by clicking Units of Assessment in the doughnut chart or by clicking the "refresh" button that appears at the top of the "Units of Assessment" panel.
This panel shows the top funders of impact case studies matching the criteria that you have selected in the dashboard. Clicking an individual funding institution will filter the results to include only impact case studies that received funding from that institution. Once a funder has been selected, it can later be removed as a filter by clicking the "refresh" icon that appears at the top of the funders panel.
This panel shows the geography of academic institutions that submitted impact case studies matching the criteria that you have selected in the dashboard. Clicking a postcode area on the map will filter the results to include only impact case studies submitted by institutions in that location. The drop-down menu can be used to select impact case studies submitted from institutions of England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland. Once a geographic area has been selected, it can later be deselected by clicking the "refresh" icon that appears at the top of the "UK Instituions" panel or by closing the information box that appears on the map.
This panel shows geographic locations of the beneficiaries of research described by
impact case studies that match the criteria you have selected in the dashboard. Clicking
a country on the global map will filter the results to include only impact case studies
that listed beneficiaries in that country. Once a country has been selected, it can be
deselected by clicking the "refresh" button
The drop-down menu can be used to zoom in on
the United Kingdom to see the geographic distribution of cities and towns listed as
research beneficiaries. Town names could not be disambiguated for some impact case studies
(e.g. where there was more than one UK town with the same name). We selected the most
populous town which may be incorrect in some cases. Results in the dashboard cannot be
filtered by individual beneficiary towns in the UK.
